Emancipation by Jo Michaels is LIVE! I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this book and here’s my review!

MY REVIEW

5 star rating

Wow! How to review a book that literally leaves you speechless?!

Emancipation is a psychological thriller at its best. It’s dark and gritty, and Michaels spares no detail as she describes the life of a man on death row. Tobias fits the profile of a sociopath, and as I learned more about his life prior to prison, I couldn’t help feeling sorry for the guy. But that didn’t last long because as he describes his crimes and hatred for women – all people, really – his true character is revealed.

Tobias daily routine is boring and monotonous for the most part, but then a ray of sunshine and hope arrives – Jess. A wealthy lawyer, she is invested in his case and determined to see justice served.
Not only is she willing to help him appeal his case, but she is also enamored by him. But will Tobias change his ways? And if released from death row, will he murder his one saving grace?
This book has so many twists and turns, and I was so caught up in the story. Jo’s writing is superb and written in a way that feels so real and raw to me.
And just when you think you have it all figured out, guess again. This book has an explosive finish that left me reeling and in shock.
The writing is so believable and well-researched.
Such a fantastic book! I highly recommend it to lovers of crime fiction, mystery, thriller, and horror. But i will say it’s not for the faint of heart, so get ready!
And…eat your snacks BEFORE you read this book, not during.
